This retreat is designed specifically for adoptive parents seeking understanding, practical guidance, and reassurance that they are not alone. Led by adoption specialist Chelsea Cameron and the Heartlight counseling team, this retreat helps parents better understand the emotional needs and behaviors common among adopted teens. Through teaching and guided discussion, families gain insight into trauma-informed parenting, attachment, and how to respond with empathy while maintaining healthy structure and boundaries.

Chelsea Cameron, the wife of Kirk Cameron, was adopted herself and a one-time manager of 6 teens, some adopted, some biological, and some mixed-race.  Her ability to communicate ranks with some of the country’s finest, as she shares her story and the story of raising her own kids.  Her depth of the adoption world marvels most, connect with all, and is more than just talk….she has lived it and shares her wisdom with us all.

Rory Feek, is a seasoned songwriter, storyteller, and all round great guy that will be performing and sharing about his life through story and song. Rory, along with his late wife, Joey formed Joey+Rory, and traveled extensively performing worldwide. He also penned such songs as “Cheater Cheater”, Blake Shelton’s Some Beach, Easton Corbin’s “A Little More Country Than That”, Randy Travis’ “When Mama Prayed”, and other songs by Tracy Byrd, Trisha Yearwood, Clay Walker, and others. He’ll perform the Saturday night of the event.

Joining Chelsea Cameron and Rory Feek, will be Blake Nelson, the experienced Executive Director of Heartlight, Layne Smith, Heartlight’s Director of Counseling, Melissa Fulling (LPC), and Courtney LaFleur, and LPC and Co-Host of the Parenting Today’s Teens Radio and Podcast.
