Half the Picture

Parents, how much do you know about what’s going on in your teen’s life?

As parents, we often only get half the picture. We see our kids at home in the afternoons and on the weekends, but when they’re at school or hanging out with friends, we can’t always be there to know what’s actually going on.

Now, let me clarify that I’m not encouraging you to become invasive, or to smother every aspect of your teen’s life.

What I will encourage you to do, though, is make the most of the time you and your teen get to spend together, and open up those lines of communication. If you’re willing to ask good, open-ended questions, you might be surprised at what your teen will share about his life.
